This is why I need to workout

Do you work out regularly?
I'm pretty sure I've complained before how I can't seem to motivate myself to hit the gym at least 2-3 times a week! Back in the day (little over 2 yrs ago to be somewhat exact) I used to look forward going to the gym. And then that excitement was gone...maybe forever! Holy cow, that's a scary thought. Let's hope at least a part of that excitement returns to me someday (oh and did I say I've two gym memberships? Sad, I know).

Since I got married (1 yrs, 5months and 2 weeks ago to be exact again) I've gained about 10lbs....which is great..my dream about putting some meat on is coming true. Except there is a problem. It all went straight into my belly and hips!!!  Which means I no longer can wear a few pair of my jeans.... quite a few skirts are waaaay to tight etc. Not cool ya'll, not cool. Here is just one dress I can no longer zip up!  (it's from this post).

Few times I've done Pilates at home thanks to a video. But again, it's not regular.

So please tell me how do you motivate yourself to workout?  What type of workout do you do?

  1. OMG gorgeous dress. After I got married I gained weight too, but It wasn't a pretty sight ;) Luckily its off now plus some.

  2. i try to work out twice a week. fortunately there's a gym in the building where i work, so i do during my lunch break. i hate cardio, so i mostly weight train.

  3. Lilly, you look AMAZING in this dress. I've always stayed away from v-necks, but adding a chunky necklace like this is PERFECT. I hope to try it one day.

    When I'm not too lazy to work out, I run on the treadmill. It's already March, and I've only been to the gym a handful of times this year. Not good. I want to lose belly fat too and have heard cardio is the best way, along with eating better. Good luck with your workout plan!

  4. I think you look great but I understand where you are coming from. A little toning up is good for everyone. I am in a total exercise rut as well. I hate cardio. I used to do Core Secrets and I was on a roll for a long time but then I got back from vacation (a year ago!) and never got back into it. I don't have any suggestions for you but I want to try to get back into a routine (esp. with my wedding just 72 days away!) Let's put our minds to it!

  6. I used to hate working out but I started attending the classes at my gym, now im hooked. My favorites are Zumba (latin dance you have to try it) yoga, pilates, and bootcamp. The hour goes by a lot faster in a class than working out alone. I'd say give them a try and that spark may just come back.

  9. I actually made it to the gym last night ladies, go me lol. I took a friend of mine with me and I think she is going to sign up. It helps having a female workout partner. And we're going again tonight. There might be hope for me lol

  10. I feel ya girl!! I've let myself gain about 10-12lbs and now all my clothes are way too tight! lol I've got a pretty good motivation - I'm getting married in 7 months BUT sometimes that's not enough. So, I can speak for my fiance since he's recently starting changing his diet and working out. He lacked motivation UNTIL he noticed a difference. He says he can see it in his body, he can feel it, and he has also noticed a change mentally. It wasn't until then that he started steadily working out and eating right. So my guess is that you've just got to do it until you get to that point. Pencil it in. Treat it like a "must do," not a "if I have time or feel like it" do. Read about the benefits of working out. (Not just physical) Focus on what it does for you inside and out and you may think about it a little differently. And lastly, remember that every time you do it gives you a little bit more time here on this earth with your husband :)

    That's what I'm doing! Oh, and one more thing - do what you want! Figure out little ways to sneak in a work out subconsciously or do active things you actually enjoy. Today, I don't feel like going to the gym so I'm not... I'd rather go for a run and enjoy this not-too-hot-and-not-too-cold weather :)

  11. I think that you look great, but I totally know what it is like to look in the mirror and see the little stuff I want to tighten or firm. I recently lost about 20-25lbs by doing HIIT cardio and some weight training, oh and eating better food... I started eating breakfast and drink protein shakes and veggies for lunches. I stopped eating junky fast foods (which was my awful food habit)

  14. You look awesome...but if clothes aren't fitting, that is when you know. And your clothes are too darn cute to go to waste:)
    Good luck with gym.
    I need to hit gym too...I am in all my clothes fine (since baby weight gain is gone etc) BUT I need to "tone up" for bikini season.

  15. You do really look great, but I must say I have a similar problem. I too have a the belly pooch, and for the life of me can't get rid of it. I workout almost everyday...yoga, pilates, insanity, this ab workout I found, as well as a variety of other workouts. I mean don't get me wrong those workouts are help because it is slowly going away. My boyfriend is very into health and fitness so he's definitely one of my motivations. Also, when I come home from work or have some free time, you know you think about working out, so I ask myself, "how much do you want it?" Or give yourself a challenge...when you do your workout, you get a reward. Amazingly, it works! Treat yourself to a new pair of shoes, bag, some frozen yogurt, a piece of chocolate cake, maybe ask your husband to participate...if you do your planned workout ask him if he'll do something for you (cook dinner, massage, surprise date night, do dishes...anything) This might help you stay on track with working out. If you do end up trying those things, let me know how they work out for you.
    I also wanted to let you know I really enjoy your blog and the outfits you post. I too started a blog, well an entire website, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind checking it out and letting me know what you think.   16. I have been going to Curves for women for two years.... I love it there!! Yes, almost everybody is older than me (40) but I don´t care..they are all so nice and if a 92 year old woman can exercise.... so can I!! I have lost almost 30 pounds in 2 years, and I go 3 times a week :o)
