I need another shopping ban

Button up: J.Crew - I got mine on sale (here in red) (similar here) (and here in pink)
Skinny Jeans: Aeropostale (Similar) (similar option)
Boots: Sam Edelman "Pierce" in Whiskey (buy)
Neckalce: Dana Kellin for Target (buy here on sale)

All the sales that have been going in are draining my wallet. Have you been having the same problem?
I think in January, or maybe February because is shorter,  I need to go on another shopping ban.  Much needed!

  1. I need to ban myself too! I find that when the urge to online shop hits me, I leave it in the cart for 24-48 hours and if I still want it, then I go back to buy it. If that does not work, I drive out to the nearest thrift store and buy something there. It doesn't hurt me as much and it satisfies me temporarily. LOL!

This is just my personal opninion... but why do you shop so much? It seems as though every time I come on here, you have bought something new or are saying you need to stop shopping so much. You have a ton of clothes, why do you need to continuously buy more? I'm sure you could take the items in your closet now and make them "new" by wearing them with different things/in a different way. Much more economical, too!

I'm sorry if this seems rude, but I just don't understand it.

  4. @Anon - What can I say, I enjoy shopping like most women do. Maybe because I find amazing deals I can't pass up?! I pretty much never pay full price for anything (unless it's something rom F21). I spend in a month what some women spend in a day on a pair of designer shoes or any designer items. I clean out my closet on a regular basis and get rid of lot of clothing that I've had for a long time/no longer fit in/or ones that are no longer my style. I already wear a lot of clothing that I've had for years (like today's sweater, at least 4 yrs old). My closet consists of more items that are old than new (and most of my outfits feature old items). I'm not trying to stop shopping just try and shop less.
I think this subject is a separate post in itself.

  5. I totally understand the need for a shopping ban. So many great sales have been going on lately. I had a shopping ban in place that I've totally broken already, but at least I have gotten terrific bargains.

I love your button-up!! The color is really pretty.

Yes, shopping ban is definitely a good idea right now. It's so hard to do though.

  8. With all these great sales lately, I need a break as well but I'm sure that will come in January. To Anonymous - we could all probably shop a little less and mix more with items already in our closets. And you know what - that's what I love so much about Lilly's style. Lilly, I love your blog & love your style - you do such a great job of mixing it up/layering/etc.

  9. Perhaps this is simply an excuse, but I seriously feel like the styles this season are so adorable!! I have trouble resisting. It's like every store I visit has something amazing that would fit so perfectly with another amazing piece I already own. I feel ya, Lilly.

Heck, it's a tough life but someone has got to do it :)

  14. Tis the season. Love all your outfits. We all have our reasons to shop. But number one reason: we are girls and that's what we do. We love clothes. No excuse necessary. I never pay full price on anything and have learned that owning the best labels is not always sensible. I started reading fashion blogs just this year and have learned to get the most out of my clothes and having lots of fun with it. That's the key, isn't it? Having fun doing what we enjoy. So long the bills are paid and the family is well fed, do what you will with your money. I too suffer from the guilt that sometimes comes with shopping. But then I thought, clothes addiction is not the end of the world. It's not crack! LOL...now that could be a very expensive habit. Peace! Keep up the good work, Lilly! When you want to get rid of your cute clothes, call me. ;-)

  16. Since it's REALLY hard for me to go on a shopping ban, I think I'm going to go on a shopping budget instead. I also hate paying full price so I want to see how far my budget can take me! I'm also trying to "shop" my closet more. It's a challenge though when reading so many fashion blogs...makes me obsess over new pieces! Sigh.

Lilly, how tall are you? I keep eyeing those gorgeous Sam Edelman boots on you. I am a tiny shrimp and fear they would come up to my armpits.
I too love how you mix the old with the new and the relatively inexpensive items in with the investment pieces.

  21. If you ban yourself from something I always find myself going a bit crazy when I can do it again. I think you'd be better off just trying to cut back if you really want to stop shopping a bit.

To be honest though I don't think you shop too much, you don't buy ridiuclously expensive stuff either. As long as it's not causing you any financial problems and you enjoy it then don't worry too much!

Anyway, Merry Christmas, I hope you've had a lovely day!
